As the fight for justice continues on behalf of police brutality victim #BreonnaTaylor, celebrities, public figures and athletes are utilizing their platforms to help bring fourth awareness while demanding action for a life wrongfully taken!
The ladies of the New York Liberty and Seattle Storm WNBA teams have kicked off the season with a strong message as they walked off the court during the national anthem on Saturday, reports the NY Post.
Sources have confirmed that each team exited the court within notion of peaceful protesting and then held a 26 second moment of silence for Breonna, 26.
Each player also wore Breonna’s last name on the back of their jerseys that night to honor her.
“We are dedicating this season to Breonna Taylor, an outstanding EMT who was murdered over 130 days ago in her home,” says Liberty player Layshia Clarendon.
”Breonna Taylor was dedicated and committed to uplifting everyone around here. We are also dedicating this season to ‘Say Her Name” campaign, a campaign committed to saying the names and fighting for justice of black women – black women are so often forgotten in this fight for justice, who don’t have people marching in the streets for them. We will say her name. Sandra Bland. Atatiana Jefferson. Dominique Remy Fells. Breonna Taylor. We will be a voice for the voiceless.”
Reports read that the Liberty team has donated a total of $25,000 to the African American Policy Forum and #SayHerName campaign as well.
