Major congratulations are in order for Grown-ish Star #YaraShahidi has officially launched her very own production company and inked a major deal with ABC Studios!
According to Deadline Yara has paired up with her mother and business partner Keri Shahidi to sign an exclusive deal with ABC to develop and produce scripted and alternative television projects for cable, streaming and broadcasting companies.
The content will be created and produced under their newly launched company 7th Sun. Sources have confirmed that the company’s home base will be stationed at ABC studios in partnership with Disney Television Studios.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with my home family, ABC Studios, in this exciting next chapter, alongside my family,” states Yara. “It’s exciting to add our production company to the roster of my peers and mentors who are also actively committed to sharing meaningful stories.”
The 7th Sun production company initiative is, “to pursue projects that touch upon themes of history, heritage, culture, and joy.”
The Shahidi’s has paired up with executive Lahore St. George as head of development for their production company.
“We can’t wait to extend and expand our relationship with the incredibly talented Yara Shahidi, who has been a member of the family since black-ish,” states ABC Studios President Jonnie Davis. “When she’s not studying at Harvard and starring in our series ‘grown-ish,’ she’s mentoring and inspiring other young people, which makes us all feel like underachievers but also very proud that she’s part of our Studio.”
