Legendary stand up comedian and actor #EddieMurphy has withstand a long and successful career within Hollywood. For decades Murphy has been praised for his ability of reaching unimaginable peaks in film while delivering some of the most memorable jokes in history.
Within a recent interview the comedic genius himself openly revealed that some of his stand up jokes from the past pertaining to gay people literally makes him cringe.
According to Fox News; Murphy has stated that he is aware that times have changed immensely and what was once deemed funny could possibly cause major harm.“Some of it I cringe when I watch it,” Murphy tells interviewer Tracy Smith. “I’m like, oh my God, I can’t believe I said that.”
Sources have confirmed that Murphy’s popular 1983 comedy special “Delirious,” consisted of a few ill mannered jokes pertaining to gay people, that could be deemed controversial.
“I get a joke every now and then that’s cringey,” Murphy reflects on his past comedic routines. “But that’s not to say I don’t appreciate it. I still appreciate it. I’m looking at it within the context of the times. I’m going, OK, I’m a kid saying that.”
Though Murphy concludes that he has no regrets within his career, he now understands what lines shouldn’t be crossed within today’s society.
