#Cousins ; there is a super special holiday treat underway wrapped in black excellence and 70’s sitcom trimming. It’s been a long time since rumors of a live recording of the classic black family sitcom Good Times began to circulate. However we are pleased to announce that the rumors have graciously transitioned into a reality!
According to Variety; ABC is set to host their second “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” special featuring legendary episodes from Good Times. Staring Viola Davis and Andre Braugher leading the pact with the iconic roles of Florida and James Evans. Jay Pharoah will play J.J Evans, Asante Blackk as Michael Evans, Corinne Foxx will play the role of Thelma Evans, and Tiffany Haddish as Willona Woods.
Academy award winning talent of Jharrel Jerome has also been casted but details of his role haven’t been specified at this time.
The musical sensation of Pattie LaBelle and Anthony Anderson will open the show singing the theme song live.
Good Times originally created by Eric Monte and Mike Evans aired 74 years ago on the broadcasting network of CBS. The show lasted for a total of six seasons and to this date remains a major staple within the black community. Serving as one of the best sitcoms ever created; from loving moments, jokes and overall family dynamic, Good Times shall be cherished forever.
The special is set to air live on the ABC network Wednesday December 18th!
