Within less than 30 days of a conviction for the murder of an unarmed resident; former Dallas police officer #AmberGuyger has officially filed for notice to appeal.
According to #TheRoot ; Guyger’s attorney Michael Mowla began the process of appeal last week on Oct 16th. Reports read that as of right now only a notice to appeal the conviction issued has been forwarded. However there are currently no details available details for the basis of Guyger’s appeal at this time.
The murder of 26 year old #BothamJean sent shock waves around the world, as the ex officer states she accidentally entered the wrong apartment and believed him to be an intruder. To add insult to injury Guyger was only sentenced to 10 years behind bars. Social media was not only out raged by the ultimate conviction but also upon the royal treatment Guyer received from both the court’s judge Tammy Kemp has and Botham’s immediate family.
We are hopeful that the system has a least an once worth of integrity and will not allow Guyger to be relived from her flimsy sentencing. That’s the least they could do right? Cousins what are your thoughts?
