Power couple Steph and Ayesha Curry are well known for being a fairly well rounded couple. From their loving nature within parenting, positive depiction of Black love and their social activism within the black community. The Curry’s are no strangers to lending a helping hand to those in need. They’ve recently announced that they’ll be using their families foundation to provide scholarship funding to college bound girls located in the Bay Area Interested in pursuing STEM!
According to #VibeMagazine , the Curry’s announced on March 8th the inspiration behind the scholarship pertaining to an 8 year old girl named Riley Morrison; who challenged Steph as to why didn’t he include girls in his under armor sneaker line. Sources have indicated that Curry and Riley co-designed a purple sneaker to celebrate International women’s day, which closely resembles the Curry 6 sneakers. Prior to the release of the Riley insipired shoe, the Curry foundation took to #Twitter to state : “ Curry doesn’t feel comfortable profiting off Riley’s shoe design, so he went to Under Armour and turned it into a scholarship that will impact girls for years to come.”
It has been stated that the scholarship will be honored to college bound girls within the Bay Area who have demonstrated the desire to study STEM. The scholarship which will pay out a total of $30,000 in increments of two years, requires a beneficiary and a maintained GPA of 3.0 . Sources have indicated the first recepient is set to be announced at the Golden State Warriors vs. the Denver Nuggets game this Friday.
