Born in Detroit, Michigan; Aretha Franklin began singing gospel music as a child within Bethel Baptist Church. Franklin’s career officially kicked off at the age of eighteen; she transitioned from Columbia records then to Atlantic Records.

With a long string of hits and a career which has spanned over a multiple of decades, its only right that Aretha Franklin has been deemed the ” Queen Of Soul”. 

With classic hit singles such as : ” Respect ” , ” Chain Of Fools” , ” Think, ( You make me feel like ) ” A natural woman ‘ , Rock Steady ” , ” Spanish Harlem ” , and the list goes on.

Franklin was the first female to ever be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. She has had a total of seventy-seven hot 100 hits on the billboard charts, won a total of eighteen grammy awards and sold over seventy-five million records. Aretha Franklin’s career was deeper than music, she was an activist and provided a multitude of services towards black culture. Not only did we lose a musical legend, we lost a visionary.
