A former Missouri police officer is facing decades behind bars after admitting to sexually assaulting 18 men he detained on arrested while On duty!
North County Police Cooperative officer,
Marcellis Blackwell, pleaded guilty to 18 federal counts of deprivation of rights under color of law, with each count involving abusive sexual contact. Prosecutors say 15 of the cases also involved kidnapping.
According to court documents, 16 of the victims were handcuffed when they were assaulted, while 15 were allegedly taken to remote locations after Blackwell turned off his body camera. Prosecutors also say he falsified police reports on 13 occasions by claiming his camera had remained active during his interactions with detainees.
The investigation began after one victim reported the abuse in June 2023, prompting additional victims to come forward before the FBI took over the case.
Blackwell is scheduled to be sentenced on November 24, with federal prosecutors seeking 30 years in prison.
