Noir Nation, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is officially speaking out after Teyana Taylor was shoved at this year’s award ceremony!

Following the now-viral moment involving Teyana and an an employee of the Oscars’ outside security firm Security Industry Specialists, the Academy says they are “extremely upset” and are already taking “appropriate measures” to address what went down.

The incident occurred backstage at the Academy Awards, where things reportedly got tense as security attempted to manage heavy foot traffic.

According to TMZ, Teyana claims that a guard put his hands on her while she attempted to rejoin her fellow cast members for a group photo as they won the final award of the night. Video of the exchange quickly circulated online, with fans calling out the interaction and questioning how it was handled.

🏛️ The Academy Responds 

In their official statement, the Academy didn’t shy away from accountability, expressing frustration over the situation and emphasizing that all guests should feel respected and safe at their events.

“We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night. We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community.”

While a third-party security company was involved, the organization made it clear that the experience fell below their standards, and they are now reviewing the matter and taking next steps.

“Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable.”

The statement continued, “We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”
