Cousins! Kevin Hart says that it’s a hard pass for him regarding hosting the Oscars in the future as he expresses that the shows aren’t as comedy-friendly as they once were in previous years!

When asked during a recent interview with Sky News’ Bethany Minelle if he had plans of hosting the Oscar awards in the future Kevin immediately responded by saying, “No. Absolutely not.” He went on to explain that there is an apparent transition going on within the award ceremony’s structure that doesn’t exactly benefit comedians.

Kevin shares his belief that the Oscars and the Golden Globes are no longer about being funny for comedians. He says that instead comedians are pressured to be cautious about their jokes and carefully navigate through sensitive topics.

Back in 2019, Kevin was placed under major scrutiny and ultimately stepped down from his Oscars hosting duties following the discovery of dated tweets from over ten years ago where he was accused of being anti-gay.

“Whatever little hope you had, I want to destroy it right now. Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics. It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes, or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore,” says Kevin.

“I think they got it right one year where it was like just a bunch of personalities acting as the hosts and that’s a nice thing. It’s a collaborative thing, different people get to be responsible for act one, act two, act three, but you know, the days of it being a room for a comic, those days are done.”
