Cousins! Actress Drew Barrymore was recently escorted off stage during an interview, as she was approached by a alleged stalker that demanded to speak with her!
According to The Insider, the bizarre incident occurred on Monday evening as Drew had been conducting a one on one segment with singer Renee Rapp at the 92nd Street Y venue space.
Within a video clip shared across social media, a person’s voice can be heard screaming Drew’s name as they quickly approached the stage. The unidentified person then proceeded to say that they needed to see her.
Surrounding security guards quickly stepped in and blocked the person before they were able to move any closer.
Drew and Renee exited the stage arm and arm as they looked startled by the unknown person.
“At first I thought it was a planned guest because Drew was so warm and excited to see him,” said a witness.
“But then we saw Reneé kick into protective mode,” they added. “Then he said his name and started to get more aggressive so we all realized something was off.”
Reports read that after a while the ladies returned back to the stage to continue.
“Well, I have a new definition of your sexiness, it’s that level of protectiveness. That went full ‘Bodyguard.’ You are my Kevin Costner,” said Drew as she praised Renee for her quick thinking.
According to The Insider, the incident was alarming for Drew, Renee as well as audience members as they were frightened by the unknown person’s aggressive behavior.
“Thankfully he did not threaten Drew or take any physical action,” says a witness to the outlet while adding that they personally were “very nervous once I realized what was going on” and was “a bit distracted for 10 or 15 minutes, but then I calmed down.”
