Cousins! Judge Lynn Toler is reflecting on the shocking passing of her husband Eric ‘Big E’ Mumford!
While appearing in an episode of the ‘Hardly Intiated’ podcast, the former Divorce Court star described the moment she discovered her husband had passed and her process of grieving.
udge Lynn says that the last time she saw her husband was while she was exercising on a treadmill at home as he was leaving. She explained that it was an ordinary day and that the last words they said to one another were, “I love you.”
“A couple of hours later, I get the phone call,” she said. “I had to go down there, and um, I mean, it was two days before Christmas,” said Judge Lynn. She says that her mind had been on deciding what their Christmas meal was going to be and that the news of Eric’s death hit her unexpectedly.
“My sons were were with me, my two youngest,” she added. Judge Lynn recalls being on the phone with Dr. Ish at the time when the hospital called her. She says that she didn’t answer at first because she didn’t recognize the number but eventually told Ish that she had another call after they repeatedly called back.
She says that during the call an official at the hospital informed her that her husband was in critical condition and that she needed to get to the emergency room as soon as possible. Judge Lynn explained that her son drove her to the ER, but her husband had already passed away.
“When I walked into the emergency room, I told … my name,” she said with tears in her eyes. “He was dead when they called. So, the woman comes out.”
“And I said, ‘Just tell me that he’s alive’ and she said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t do that.’ I said, ‘So, he’s dead? Just tell me. Is he dead?’ ‘I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that. You have to wait to talk to a doctor.’ So, you know he’s dead, but you don’t know he’s dead.”
Judge Lynn revealed that she spent many weeks following her husband’s passing in a state of disbelief.
“I spent the first weeks just not believing,” she added.
The 63 year old says that she is still grieving and that she finds peace in leaning on her friends by simply just keeping her uplifted.
