Cousins! A Donald Trump supporter and identified January 6th Capitol rioter was arrested outside of Barack Obama‘s home recently!
Law enforcement says Taylor Taranto was spotted on Thursday by the secret service just a few blocks away from the Obama’s home. It has been stated that as they approached the 37-year-old he began to run towards our forever president’s home. They immediately chased after him and were able to detain him before he could get any further.
According to ABC NEWS, Taylor’s van was also parked within the area, and it was equipped with a series of weapons along with materials needed to create explosives discovered by first responders.
Reports read that U.S officials had become aware of Taylor’s threats following a series of alarming posts shared on Trump’s social media platform of Truth Social and also Telegram.
Sources state each account is conducted by the same username seemingly connected to him. It has been stated that he made numerous posts about Obama’s home and conspiracies about their location. He didn’t make any direct threats but did suggest he has weapons while live streaming.
Capitol Police state they’ve assisted in the investigation “due to a concern for public safety and the potential for violence against Members of Congress.”
“The information learned throughout the investigation was shared with our local and federal partners and the combined effort and arrest was another great example of how agencies from across the National Capital Region work together to keep everyone safe,” said U.S. Capitol Police Acting Assistant Chief Jason Bell for Protective and Intelligence Operations.
According to reports from NBC NEWS, Taranto is also listed as a defendant within a civil lawsuit issued by the widow of MPD officer Jeffrey Smith. Smith is said to have died by suicide following the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
Court documents obtained by the outlet detail that in 2021 Smith’s widow identified Taranto as having entered the Capitol and allegedly aiding another rioter identified as David Walls-Kaufman, in attacking Smith as he was trying to remove rioters from the building.
Though David pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor offense upon federal prosecutors acknowledgment that they couldn’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he had assaulted Smith, he was only sentenced two months in jail. Oppose to Taranto who still hasn’t yet been charged.
Taranto has remained his innocence in denying aiding in Smith’s assault.
Sources confirm that he will be held in police custody until a scheduled detention hearing on Wednesday. His mental stability is also being evaluated.
