Cousins, comedic legend Martin Lawrence took his rightful place amongst the Hollywood walk of fame yesterday as he was officially honored with his very own star!

“I’ve been crying all week so I figured if I had my glasses on today, maybe y’all won’t see the tears,” said Martin as he admitted he was a bit overwhelmed by all the love he had been receiving during the ceremony. “But they’re most definitely tears of joy.”

Martin was joined by his family including his beautiful daughters . His celebrity all-star friends of Tichina Arnold , Steve Harvey , Tracy Morgan and Lynn Whitfield had also shared kind words about his journey as an actor and comedian.

“In my generation, when you say, ‘Martin,’ you don’t have to say his last name. Everybody know who you talking about,” said Tracy. “My parents had Redd Foxx and ‘Sanford and Son.’ We had Martin Lawrence.”

Martin’s extensive career began in the late 80s as he made cameos for roles in Spike Lee’s legendary film ‘Do The Right Thing’ as well as the classic sitcom ‘What’s Happening Now’. In 1992 he took the world by storm with his own show that has successfully lasted the test of time “Martin”.

He went on to star in box office selling films such as ‘Bad Boys’ , ‘House Party’ , “Life” as well as in his own cult classic film of ‘Big Momma’s House’ and many more.

“If this dude don’t have a star, they need to take all of them up out the ground, dig all these damn things up,” said Steve. “Ladies and gentlemen, Martin Lawrence is that dude!”

Martin wrapped the ceremony thanking friends, family and also his long list of fans who’ve stuck with him throughout his career.

“I’m thankful for the love that I give out and I’m just feeling that I’m getting it back,” said Martin. “If I can pass one thing on to those coming after me, it would be to board your dream bus with confidence, grace and humility and ride it until the wheels fall off!”

Congratulations Marty Mar; YOU GO BOY!
