Cousins! The artist formerly known as Kanye West is getting dropped more than hot cakes y’all. First it was Balenciaga, then Vogue and now reports of his longtime home base record label of Def Jam has seemingly cut ties with him all together!
According to reports from the New York Times, a source close to Def Jam reveled that Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint are no longer affiliated with Def Jam. It has been stated that Ye’s official contract with the label expired back in 2021 following the release of his #Donda album, however there has been no confirmation of if he was suppose to continue on in partnership with them. This news comes just weeks after the Chicago native’s series of antisemitic outbursts.
But it doesn’t end there, the father of four was also dropped by Hollywood talent agency CAA this morning who announced they are no longer moving forward with a documentary on Kanye. United Talent Agency is also said to have followed suit.
Kanye originally signed with Def Jam almost 20 years ago following the release of his 2003 album, ‘Through The Wire.’ According to Complex, all of Ye’s projects, minus the ‘Donda 2,’ was released through the label.
He officially launched G.O.O.D. Music back in 2004, where he later signed an agreement with The Island Def Jam Music Group, now known only as Def Jam via Universal Music Group, in 2011. It has been stated that there is no direct timeline of when G.O.O.D. and Def Jam relationship ended.
