Cousins!
While appearing on ‘The Future of Creative Freedom’ at this year’s Revolt Summit panel Coi Leray shared her personal views on artists sampling music!
Coi says she loves a good sampled tune just as much as everyone else but in the near future she’d like to see fellow artist tapping into their authentic selves.
She explained how it is important to create original music for fans to vibe to. “I love samples but I hope artists really tap into more of just being original.”

In regard to her creative process Coi detailed that she is extremely hands on with her music and takes pride in knowing that her individuality shines through her artistry.
In connection to to her hit record ‘Twinnem’ ,Coi revealed that she co-produced, wrote and selected specific cords for the single. She explains how the track was inspired by Kodak Black ‘s song ‘Gospel’
“I sat in that studio I wrote that song. I wanted those cords, I wanted that church feel. I be twerking and I’m tired of twerking. I wanted to take it to church.”
Within the last couple of years folks have been pretty vocal about musicians remixing or recreating already established tunes. Cousins, do you agree? Would you like for artist to tap into more original music or keep doing their thang with samples?
