Mega-superstar Lizzo announced a new project and no, it is not a new album!
The “Truth Hurts” singer has been in full album mode on top of starring in her very own TV show on Amazon, ‘Watch Out For The Big Girrls’ She has a big project that has everyone talking.
In partnership with Fabletics, Lizzo will be dropping a “revolutionary new shapewear brand,” Yitty.
According to Vanity Fair, named after her childhood nickname, Yitty has been three years in the making. The shapewear brand is a “no-shame, smile-inducing,” size-inclusive shapewear brand designed for everybody and “all based on the principles of self-love, radical inner confidence, and effortless, everyday wear.”
In the press release for the brand, Lizzo explains, “Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included. Everyone’s size is just their size. It’s not high, it’s not low. It’s not big, it’s not small. It’s just your size.”
Ranging in sizes 6X to XS, the designs are fitted to every size and body type. Over 65% of the styles are made from recycled materials. And the packaging is made 100% of recycled materials. For the release, Lizzo will debut three different collections: “Nearly Naked,” a line of seamless shaping garments, “Mesh Me,” featuring transitional under- to outerwear pieces, and “Major Label,” an assortment of everyday lifestyle designs.”
The inspiration for Yitty stems from Lizzo being told to “reshape” her body to conform to society’s unattainable beauty standards.
“I felt that I was constantly being told through TV and magazines that my body wasn’t good enough. And, in order to be considered ‘acceptable’ I had to inflict some sort of pain upon it to fit into an archetype of beauty,” Lizzo said. “Because of this, I’ve been wearing shapewear for a long time, maybe since I was in fifth or sixth grade.”
