In an attempt to chop down his children’s late night social media and internet cruising a father accidentally knocked off an entire town’s WiFI and could possibly end up in the slammer because of it!

According to the NY Post, the unidentified dad is looking at a possible 6 month sentence for disconnecting the town of Messanges internet access with an illegal device.

Reports read that the father had purchased a scrambler in attempt to block his kids connection to the web in their home between the hours of midnight and 3am. It has been said that those are the hours they would be on social media the most.

Word has it that his plan not only worked for his household but also the entire town and the beach town in southwestern France.

Sources confirm that widespread outage was reported by over 1,000 people. That’s when service providers began to investigate the issue and escalated it government officials.

A radiogoniometry device was used and detected to the scrambler. It appears that the device blocked the Wi-Fi, mobile signals and overall internet connection.

In the United States, federal law also “prohibits the operation, marketing, or sale of any type of jamming equipment” since “signal-jamming devices can prevent you and others from making 9-1-1 and other emergency calls and pose serious risks to public safety communications,” according to the Federal Communications Commission.

It has been stated that the dad, is being prosecuted and facing the possibility of up to six months in prison. He also faces up to a 30,000 euro fine (about $34,000), as well as a 450 euro fee ($511) for the ANFR to investigate says the N.Y. Post.
