Cold world indeed y’all! A captured surveillance video shows a male attempting to help a homeless person out by giving him the jacket off his back. Unfortunately his kind gesture was met with a physical attack and robbery!
According to the New York Post the incident took place Wednesday morning on a sidewalk in midtown Manhattan, in front of 476 5th Ave. at around 8:40 a.m.
The identified 59-year-old victim says he tried to assist Xavier Israel, 25, who was lying on the ground.
Within the video clip you can see that shortly after the victim places his jacket on Israel’s back, he responds by jumping up and pushing the Good Samaritan to the ground.
Israel then digs through the older man’s pockets searching for his wallet and then snatching it from his pants.
The man tried to fight back but Israel overpowered him. He then fled the scene but was shortly captured on West 41st St. and 5th Ave with $1,500 on cash says officials.
