Cousins!
At this point is it hard to assume Faizon Love needs some clout!?
Just a few weeks ago Faizon Love was headlining due after mentioning again a time he and Gabrielle Union shared a kiss. More recently he was seen on Instagram making comments about the pay he received during the taping of the classic Ice Cube film Friday.
XXL reports that the actor and comedian shared his thoughts on the situation via Instagram post.
“First of all, I not only consider Ice Cube a comrade but my brother and I’m still a fan I think he’s one of the dopest n****s to ever touch a mic.”
Faizon mentioned this under a photo he posted of him and Ice Cube. He continues by saying, “I guess it’s slow news weeks so let me say what I got paid is a moot point, it was the price of admission to a game. I have zero regrets. I want to take this time to thank Cube, DJ Pooh and Felix Grey Grey for letting me be a part of such an iconic picture. I truly have nothing but love for these brothers.”
Ice Cube caught wind of the post and responded by saying, “I didn’t rob anybody. The 1995 Friday movie cost $2.3M to make. Shot it in 20 days. Fazion worked 1 days, maybe 2. All the actors got paid scale to do the movie. They could’ve simply said NO, but they didn’t. So, miss me with that.”
He also used this opportunity to address reports of Chris Tucker not wanting to reprise his role in Next Friday because of money issues. “We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12 million to do Next Friday, but he turned us down for religious reasons. He didn’t want to cuss, or smoke weed on camera anymore.”
Faizon Love then was interviewed by Comedy Hype and discussed more regarding the pay he received for Friday.
“See, it wasn’t really about the money then. I got to say I’m working, pay rent, I ain’t out in the street doing no bullsh*t.” He also mentioned that he was offered a role in Next Friday for $5,000 but turned it down to take on a higher paying gig. Faizon says that he is open to a role in the final film in the franchise. “Now if I do it again, they are talking about Last Friday then, oh yeah, I’m with it. You got a last check? If Cube said, Faizon, there’s no money. I need to do this. I would have to do it on GP because it was that character that brought me into the game heavy.”
Word on the street is that Faizon is not the only actor to reveal he was paid a small salary for acting in the original Friday film. John Witherspoon, who played Ice Cube’s father said he only made $5,000 for the first film, prior to starring in both follow-up movies.
