In the past few years, we have witnessed countless women come forward with accusations against #BillCosby, regarding claims of sexual assault. Despite his controversial conviction prosecutors are currently requesting the U.S Supreme Court to take a deeper look as to why exactly he was able to walk out a free man after already being found guilty!
USA Today reports that a Pennsylvania prosecutor may get a second chance at putting Bill back into prison. Kevin Steele, the prosecutor that prosecuted Bill in 2018 called the recent ruling; disappointing. Steele describes the ruling as a setback in the fight for justice for sexual assault survivors.
“… a high-profile case like this to be overturned, it can make the victims feel helpless and hopeless. It takes a lot for somebody to come forward and go through the criminal justice process. And when justice is still not served, it revictimizes the victims all over again and brings back those memories of the trauma, “ says Steele in a forwarded statement.
Steele has also indicated that he is even currently contemplating taking action towards petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court.
The clap back from Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesperson, stated to USA Today, the petition is PATHETIC. “The Montgomery County D.A. asks the U.S. Supreme Court to throw the Constitution out the window to satisfy the throw the Constitution out the window to satisfy the #METOO mob. There is no merit to the DA’s request. The high court does not typically interfere with the rulings of a state’s high court unless it conflicts with the decisions of other state’s high courts or our federal court appeals.”
Bill’s lead attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, made a statement to USA Today also saying she will be filing a response to Steele’s petition. She continues by mentioning that the case is about more than a press release.
