Australia Mouse Plague Forces Prisons To Evacuate Inmates And Staff!

Cousins!

For the last 6 months numerous areas in Australia have been devastatingly plagued with countless mice inside residents homes, farms and most recently a local prison!

According to CNN Wellington Correctional Center has been forced to shutdown with nearly 420 inmates and 200 staff members evacuating.

Reports read that the rodents broke down pieces of the prison’s building structure, from damaging the wiring to the ceiling panels.

The inmates have been transferred to another prison and staff members were relocated while authorities handle the massive infestation.

It has been indicated that the mice are looking for shelter and food due to the condition of the area.

“The health, safety and well-being of staff and inmates is our number one priority so it’s important for us to act now to carry out the vital remediation work,” said Corrective Services NSW Commissioner Peter Severin.

There are lots of fields with crops around the jail,” he said. “The mice invaded the jail looking for food and shelter as the weather gets colder outside.”
