Despite this year’s explosive BET Awards celebration layered with star studded attendees, lit performance and the return live audience members the network has reported an all time record low in ratings!

The 2021 awards reached a total of 2.4 million views compared to last year’s 3.7 million, ranking as the lowest in BET’s 20 year award history, reports Digital Music News .

It has been indicated that that the BET awards is amongst other big time award specials such as the Grammys, Oscars, and the American Music Awards to experience that all got hit this year with low views due to the new virtual showcase format.

Reports breakdown that the BET network originally pulled in 1.7 million views alone but the various affiliated channels through VIAComCBS pulled in additional views from BET Her, MTV, MTV2, Logo, TV Land, and VH1.

Sources have confirmed that that overall the annual award show pulled in 4.6 million viewers across all BET Awards with demographics of 18-49 year olds.
