A 32 year old female New York resident is currently in police custody following a hit and run incident that left a 14 year NYPD veteran dead!
Jessica Beauvis had been driving with a suspended license for failure to pay a Driver Responsibility Assessment in relation to speeding conviction at the time of the incident, reports NBC news.
Sources have confirmed that Jessica was traveling down the Long Island Expressway when she hit Officer Anastasios Tsakos and fled the scene.
Jessica admitted to having been drinking and smoking before getting in her car earlier that day. It has been indicated that her blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.
She apologized for killing the father of two as she walked out of a police station in handcuffs on Tuesday.
Jessica is currently facing 13 charges, including manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.
She’s being held without bail and is due back in court Friday.
