Cousins!

Actors Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict have recently revealed the key to their longstanding marriage while working together to take care of a household, two children, pivoting careers and loving one another!

Within an exclusive interview with Essence Magazine the couple states that tackling household duties together and ignoring gender roles have ultimately pulled them closer together.

“Cory and I truly believe in equality,” says Tia. “We’ve never really focused on specific gender roles, meaning if I’m cooking, Cory will help clean the dishes. I owe a lot of my success to his support in all areas. He’s an incredible father. He’s an incredible husband and supporter when it comes to helping me take care of the kids when I need help.”

Within the interview Cory admitted when he was single he would hide dishes in his oven to avoid washing them. He reveals that he’s no longer that person and within the pandemic he’s learned that tidying up can be therapeutic.
“With the pandemic, there’s been a lot of anxiety and stress. Can you imagine having a dirty house on top of that?”

The loving couple has implemented responsibilities into the lives of their two children Cree and Cairo as well.

“We’re all about positive reinforcement,” says Mowry. “So if they do their chores, then we’ll go ahead and reward them with something at the end of the week. I think starting at a young age helps because then it just becomes a routine for them.”

Cory notes that the pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for their family as they’ve been allowed to slow down from their busy schedules and spend quality time together.

“Seeing my kids grow, being with my wife, cooking more, and learning how to love each other more in this new era that we live in was a blessing for our family,” he states. “We did get closer as a family, and our love just grew.”
