Cousins!
Black history month is kicking off within its rightful capacity as breaking news reports voting rights activist Stacey Abrams has officially been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize!
Abrams is being recognized for her impactful and historic work as she assisted with a rapid increase in Black voter turnouts within the state of Georgia, reports The Hill.
As we previously noted it has been literal decades since Georgia weighed in favor of the Democratic Party.
“Abrams’ work follows in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s footsteps in the fight for equality before the law and for civil rights,” states Norway Socialist Party politician Lars Haltbrekken.
“Abrams’ efforts to complete King’s work are crucial if the United States of America shall succeed in its effort to create fraternity between all its peoples and a peaceful and just society,”
Abrams began her work against voters suppression nearly 7 years ago with the launch of her New Georgia Project when she advocated for unregistered Black Georgians to sign up for the midterm elections in 2014.
We are glad to see her hard work and dedication receive its proper recognition.
