Governor Cuomo Signs Executive Order Declaring Juneteenth As Holiday For NY State Employees!

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has recently announced that he will sign an executive order that will officially declare Juneteenth a holiday for state employees beginning next year!

Gov. Cumo announced his decision on Wednesday afternoon during his daily briefing reports NBC News.

I’m going to sign an executive order today,”, stated Cuomo.

“Recognizing Juneteenth as a holiday for state employees and I’m going to propose legislation for next year making it an official state holiday.”

He continues, “Friday is Juneteenth. It commemorates the emancipation of slavery in the United States. It is a day that we should all reflect upon. It’s a day that’s especially relevant in this moment and history.”

Numerous residents throughout the country are advocating for industries, brands and corporations to declare Juneteenth a paid holiday for employees across the board.
