Within a recent TMZ live inteview Arbery’s mother Wanda Cooper-Jones was asked, “What would your family consider as swift justice?” and she responded, “Coming from a mother’s point of view, my point view; my son died so they should die as well.”
She also notes that she would not be against prosecutors aiming for the death penalty for Arbery’s killers Gregory and Travis McMichael.
Sources have confirmed that there are currently three circumstances within the case that could potentially allow the prosecution team to seek the death penalty. Mainly consisting of the provision of Georgia law, which highlights the notion that the death penalty can be aimed for if, “the capital offense was outrageously or wantonly vile, horrible, or inhuman in that it involved torture, depravity of mind or an aggravated battery to the victim.”
It has been indicated that Cooper-Jones’ has advised her to not disclose detailed information about her conversation with the newly appointed prosecutor Joyette Holmes. However she states they are all on the same page of obtaining justice for Ahmaud’s life.
