Governor #AndrewCuomo has recently announced the first official detection of the viral Coronavirus within the city of #NewYork !
According to the New York Post , an unidentified female NYC resident and health services care worker has recently tested positive of the virus. It has been indicated that the 38 year old woman alongside her husband had recently traveled from Iran and back to NYC.
Reports read that the health care worker was aware of the risk she would obtain traveling between the two countries. After traveling home from the airport she took a ride share service home and isolated herself out of fear of spreading the virus on Feb. 26th.
Cuomo has noted that the woman’s husband is currently being tested for the virus. It hasn’t been indicated wether he has the virus or not at this time but extra precautions are being taken to assure the virus is not spread.
“We don’t believe she was contagious on the plane or in the private car that took them from the airport to her residence,” states Cuomo. He continues, “but we’re assuming that he’s positive, given the circumstances.”
Reports read that the husband is being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital.
“The health-care worker has manifested some respiratory illnesses but her condition is mild, so she’s at home, “She was not on any public transportation, she has been in her home virtually isolated and she is isolated once again,” Cuomo states to local news. “So in this case, because of those circumstances — because of her knowledge — she acted in a textbook way.”
