Word on the street is the epic 90’s film New Jack City is next in line for an official reboot! However just like most gossip that’s not the actual truth. After a little quality digging we can confirm that the legendary film will be receiving a sequel not a revamp!
#Deadline reports that the Warner Bro’s neo-noir drama film sequel is currently in the works. Sources have confirmed that the official announcement was made earlier this week by Snow fall writer, actor and director Malcom M.Mays. Mays has also been deemed the official screenwriter of the sequel.
“It’s actually a sequel, not a remake-reboot,” states Mays addressing the rumors of New Jack City reboot. “[I] guess the cats out the bag now. It’s an honor.”
New Jack City was originally written by Thomas Lee Wright and directed by Mario Van Pebbles. Staring the legendary talents of Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, Chris Rock, Flavor Flav, Allen Payne, Judd Nelson and Peebles. The film depicts life on both sides of the spectrum within New York City during the crack epidemic of the 80s -90s era.
There has been very limited information forwarded upon the details of the film pertaining to the sequel’s official release date and potential characters at this time.
