The super streaming service #Netflix is helping create history! It has recently been announced that Netflix will be airing it’s first original animated series directly derived from #Africa soon. Netflix is currently working towards creating content that connects with Africa whole heartedly.
The series is titled Mama K’s Team 4; according to #EssenceMagazine the series follows four teenage girls who are currently living within the 21st century futuristic dimension of Lusaka, Zambia. The girls have been recruited by a retired secret agent with the daily responsibility of saving the world. Sources state the creator behind the series is a Zambian writer Malenga Mulendema and designed by Cameronnian artist Malcom Wopea. The series is set to be produced by South African award winning Triggerfish animation studios and the UK based entertainment production studio CAKE.
Mulendma states that the sole purpose behind the series is to create stories that pay homage to her hometown of Zambia. Also creating stories that connect black and brown girls from all over who haven’t been offered the opportunity to see themselves within a cartoon element. “In creating a superhero show set in Lusaka, I hope to introduce the world to four strong African girls who save the day in their own fun and crazy way,” she said. “Most importantly, I want to illustrate that anyone from anywhere can be a superhero.” There has been no release date indicated as of yet.
