Noir Nation, if you’ve been holding out hope for Insecure to make a comeback, Issa Rae is giving y’all the ultimate reality check—chances are slim to none. 😬
🎤 Issa Speaks On Her Book Tour
While speaking with fans at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta Monday night for her book tour I Should Be Smarter By Now, Issa addressed the online chatter about bringing back her fan-favorite HBO series.
“I’ve always said if I bring Insecure back, it’s ‘cause I’m down bad,” Issa joked. “From jump, I knew I wanted to tell a story for five seasons. We all loved each other, working with each other on the show.”
📺 The Story Ran Its Course
Originally premiering in 2016, Insecure wrapped up in 2021, leaving fans hungry for more. While nostalgia runs deep, Issa made it clear she always envisioned the series as a five-season story.
Join The Family!
“I always had a feeling that six seasons was a little too much. Even the fifth season was like—‘Are we going to be good?’ People get antsy and want to do their own things afterward…I just didn’t want to overstay our welcome.”
The creator emphasized the importance of ending on a high note rather than stretching the storyline and losing its magic.
