Charlotte, North Carolina native #DaBaby has recently been detained after police officials received an anonymous tip indicating that there was a mass amount of drugs and fire arms in his vehicle!
TMZ reports that the incident took place Monday night following Da Baby’s performance at the Bojangles’ Coliseum. Sources have confirmed that the Mecklenburg Police Department smelled a strong odor of marijuana when the rapper first pulled into the parking lot; however they allegedly decided to wait until after his show to confront him.
Officials state that Da Baby refused to speak with the officers and walked off. The officers then detained him and searched his vehicle, ultimately finding less than one half ounce of marijuana and no weapons. Da Baby was initially arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and resisting officers. He was ultimately revoked of all charges and only received two citations.
Da Baby has indicated the story went completely different, stating that the officers were up to no good from the very beginning. He states that after leaving the venue a total of 15 officers swarmed his vehicle. He goes on to state that he was targeted and that the anonymous “tip story” was a lie.
“Every time. There’s nobody when I pull up in the parking lot, the second I get out the car, 15 cops come around (can I borrow your microphone? ) shinningikk mi l it into the car windows … they follow me, they pull us over for no reason.”
Reports read that an internal investigation is underway to confirm if the arresting officers fully followed protocol.
